Paul Gerstenberger (born in 1987), former member of Black Watch Aberdeen ’87, played 5 years for Black Watch Premier before signing with Boston College of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Paul is a native to Colonie, New York where he played for Colonie High School under Mike Trimarchi. Paul was selected for the US MNT U18 National Camp in Carson, California in 2004. After a solid camp, Gerstenberger was chosen for the US MNT U18 team that competed in several international cups like the Milk Cup in Ireland where they played Brazil, Korea and the host nation. Paul played a variety for positions for the Club including central midfielder, left midfielder, striker and even center back.
“Paul was a gifted athlete who had great feet and soccer sense. He was brought up in a soccer home with a soccer legacy. His passion for the game was tremendous. Every challenge on the field that was posed to him, he seemed to embrace and overcome,” said his former coach and Executive Director Steve Freeman. Gerstenberger was also offered a roster spot in the Middlesbrough Football Academy of the English Premier League (EPL) in 2002 and 2003. “When ‘Boro recognized his ability, we knew we had a special player on our hands. Paul opened the doors to Middlesbrough FC for our Club,” said Freeman.
Dave MacVane Jr. (born in 1990), former member of the Black Watch Midlothians ‘89’s, was in the United States Under 17 Men’s National Team Residency Program in Bradenton, Florida. Dave was selected for the Under 14 US MNT Training Camp in 2004 and from there was selected and enrolled in the Residency Program where US Soccer funds our nation’s top 40 Under 17 prospects full-time. Dave is currently competing with the Region I ODP Team and was also selected to the Adidas ESP Camp. Dave is also a junior at Saratoga Springs High School. Dave played nearly 4 years for the Club. While playing in Black Watch, Dave was coached by Dave MacVane Sr., Jeff Geller and Kirk Sinkins.
Warren Gross (born in 1989), former member of the Black Watch Midlothians ‘89’s, currently competes as one of the goalkeepers with the United States Under 18 MNT coached by Director of Coaching Bob Jenkins. Warren hails from Saratoga Springs and has played for the Club for over 4 years. “Warren has a tremendous frame at 6’3” and can grab anything out of the air it seems,” said Executive Director Steve Freeman. Gross has committed to play NCAA Division I soccer at Penn State University.
